Need Some IH Help!!!

Check this out, what is it worth? I told the guy scrap price to me, which is going to be about $100. He has it listed with some other stuff, and even describes it as a "parts tractor" 1946.

I am mostly concerned about the WFE, can anyone tell if it is home made, or IH, or what?

Picture is kind of bad, and for some reason it kind of looks home made to me?

Factor in the drive, which is about 2 1/2 hours away.

I would REALLY like it, just for the wfe for my H...

Thanks! Bryce

Agree with Allen, not the best picture but looks like a original H wide front. Looks like it may have wheel weights on the front that will sell for more than the hundred in several areas.

You think so huh!? Is that a good thing?

Were these the ones that didn't turn all that well?

I like the looks of them on these bigger tractors... I think that they are maybe a little safe too (at least that will be the reason I tell mom I bought it! :) ) .

I think I am going to try to get it, even if a little more than scrap... There are still a few good parts there.. Nice seat, weights, rims, maybe even serviceable rear tires?

Thanks Allan! Bryce

Are those front weights really worth that much?

Ever tractor I have gotten (3 C's, SC, H) have all had them except for another H I got... Sold a pair for $60 not too long ago to a buddy and I was tickled pink at that!!

Maybe I need to ship some out to you!?!? :)

Come to think of it, those original wfe's are the ones with ONE tie rod going to the left, then ONE long one going from the left all the way to the right? Correct?

I can see that single shorter rod... Looks to be a nice front end maybe huh??

Thanks! Bryce

Well, that was an M in a different area too!

I bought one H running and driving from a guy on here for $450. And then I valued the trade on the other one at $400. And it was running too, but needed some love (still does).

This one is half as good, and complete as the other two, so, I am thinking scrap price, or more. Not trying to cheat the guy out of it, that is just what I personally want to pay for it...

I think you should go get it. No sure what he's askin but if you can buy it for a $100, I'd say you got a heck of a deal.

He's not asking anything for it, just said make offer in the ad. So, that is what I did!

I will go to 200 at the most, but it will cost me 75-100 to go get it.. I REALLY don't need it, but then again, I would like it! :)

You don't want that thing. Takes forever to turn 'em around; especially to the left. Get an aftermarket Swartz.

I saw a wide front sell that came off the H they sold yesterday at a farm auction. They sold it for 650.00. A young guy standing by me brought it and seemed pleased with his purchase. I don't know if it was original or a aftermarket. It looked pretty beat up to me.

Now there's the dirt I was looking for! :)

So you're saying it would take about as much room to turn around as that big red monster of yours?! :)

Do they turn okay to the right? Would I be able to make a nice ish corner with a 7 foot swather?

I think that if the price is right, I will still buy it... Could probably part it all out for enough to buy a NICE Schwartz!

Thanks for the info!

For a hundred bucks if you can get it why not? I paid a $100 bucks just for a front tire and rim for my H! Lol. My friends dad has a super H with an IH wide front with a snow plow on it, never heard him say it dosent turn good. I guess I'd have to ask him about it.

I won't put one of those wide fronts ony letter series. I know they have gotten a bad rap because of the turning radius on some. I would just hate it after being able to put my tractors anywhere with the narrow. You seem to do well parting them out and getting rid of pieces. Do it. Make him give you all of the pieces he's taken off.

Hehehe, well, it's mine!

He told me that his dad wanted me to have it, for $150, and a promise that ANY and ALL parts I was interested in that were in or around the barn it is in would go with it...

Sounds pretty good to me! Road trip.... :)

He said that they used H's, and that this one has been a parts machine for a LONG time... Hopefully that means it has good brakes, and maybe even a good clutch!

Mom is thrilled to say the least! :)
