picked up this Ford and it is skipping and blowing white smoke. I have attached a YouTube video of it running. I am getting my mech. to clean out fuel lines/filter and gas tank and see if that helps at all. He thinks it could be an injector that has gone bad. Can anyone recommend anything else?

One thing to be aware of on these series Fords is that once you get the injectors working correctly if it seems to run a bit rich with a moderate amount of black smoke check the muffler. These tend to get clogged pretty easy. They are pretty easy to clean out though all you usually have to do is bang on the muffler with the tractor engine are around 1500-1800 RPM and the soot will dislodge and blow out.

This will work the first few times before you have to replace the muffler.

Been there on one of these series mine was a 1210

It could be an injector.... but that backfiring has me a bit worried that it may also have a bad valve.. I hope you didn't pay much for it because this could be expensive.

Take a look at the valve springs, look things over, bent pushrod, check valve lash, anything visibly wrong with the valve train. Run a compression test if you have access to the equipment.

Doesn't cost anything to look, be sure before going into the injectors.

Hi As you say bent rods I had a fordson major a guy put a 6 cyl in. When i got it it missed on 1 cyl. I tried good injector in the cylinder that missed and a spare pump, It still missed. nothing looked odd under the valve cover when running, so figured It was something else. It got left for a while.
I had a guy came in the yard one day recognized it from last owner. His comment was have you figured out the miss yet. I said no, his answer was 2 years before it got rain water down the muffler and wouldn't start so they tried to tow it before they realised about the water. Goofs bent a rod from what we could figure out. I never found out for shore somebody else decided they liked it real bad even knowing it missed so it left my ownership faster than I decided to buy it.
