I have a 1936 Farmall F-20 with a Hi-Speed gear box on it but I don't know if it was behlen that made it or who the manufacture was. My issue is that it works fine in low gear but wont engage in high gear. I tore into it and it looks like the splines on the upper gear shaft aren't even getting close to connecting with the actual drive shaft in the box but it don't appear that it can go on any further. Has anyone had this problem, or does anyone know where to find exploded diagrams of its setup, or parts even for that matter.

Most of those road gear set ups are very similar and very simple , you should be able to figure what is going on. Is the shift fork working ? anything look worn or damaged ? Not a lot of parts in there.

to many years , but I think behlen units were in an aluminum case and trans mission had to be shifted to neutral, then over drive unit shifted in as it transferred power to counter shaft providing a 5th gear for road gear

I lined it up and smacked it a couple times with a rubber mallet to "press it" on the shaft. I was holding but when I put it all back together and tried to move it with it in overdrive gear it wont move, but moves fine in any gear without the high gear engaged. The motor is not on the tractor either, this is just manual power.
