Beside the sea-side

Tenby on the southern coast of Pembrokeshire is the jewel-in-the-crown of Welsh sea-side resorts. A small town surrounded by medieval stone walls and the remains of a castle on the hill. The view of the harbour with the new & the old life boat stations on the left.

It has two long sandy beaches, popular holiday resort for families

A few hundred feet off the beach is St Catherine's Island. A derelict fort dating back to the 1800's on top - privately owned, no one allowed onto the island.

But what is this "lump" on the beach???

These huge Jelly Fish have invaded Britains coastline this summer.

Another one, shows the size by my foot. yes - they have stinging tentacles trailing several feet beyond the tail.

Kinda puts you off going into the sea for a paddle in your bare feet!

(quoted from post at 06:33:59 06/11/15) how high does the tide rise and fall here?

In summer the tide rise is 26 feet - you can see the {lower} darker area on the rocks of the island

Easy to see why those beaches are popular, that is some beautiful sand and water! When you said the old fort is privately owned, I had to smile. I could just hear some rich lady telling her husband, "Dear, with a little remodeling here and there, this would make a great weekend spot!" Thanks for the photos and commentary.
