new Home Depot Ad

Anyone else pick up on the new Home Depot Radio ad? It seems not that long ago that a radio announcer had to have a very masculine deep voice. Changing times.

(quoted from post at 06:09:08 06/26/15) How about the new Johnson & Johnson Tylenol ad? Since I don't have six initials to categorize my life style, I think Tylenol has walked away from me.

Tom in TN

Yes, I saw that commercial. I don't use Tylenol now, and for sure never will.

Home Depot for years gave veterans a discount simply from DD For 214. Them they demanded you have a Health Card, good only for health benefits. No other ID would be accepted. Now they are demanding you have a Health Card that state your health problems be service related on the new cards. Only those wounded in action (such as my son in law who screwed up his knee jogging and has 15% permanent disability) can get a discount. Now I buy all my goods at LOWES who continue to honor my service simply by having a veterans ID (%100 Home Depot is getting too far out for me

Home Depot and Lowes both give a discount all year to active duty and retired. As far as the VA card, you likely have to be medically retired or 100% rating from the VA to get the discount. Otherwise you have to put in your 20 years, or 31 in my case. I view the discount as an good thing that Home Depot and others do, I do not view it as something I am entitled to and I certainly do not feel a business owes me a discount.

The Home Depot Foundation does give quite a bit to service members and vets to support uncovered needs from medical treatments. I expect it was close to $100 million in the past few years. They are a large source of support for vets undergoing rehab in Atlanta who may have financial needs that are not met or reimbursed by the military system.

I am all for getting any entitlements that I may qualify for but a discount at Home Depot... no , that is not an entitlement, but just something that Home Depot decided to do for certain folks. Their discount, they get to set the rules.

Agree with [b:654c4848f0]rustyfarmall[/b:654c4848f0] on Tylenol.

Advertise/promote your product; not the LGBT alternative lifestyle.

my wife works at Home Depot and the reason they had to do it here was all the low life's that came in and claimed they were Vet's,,,, (It happened a LOT everyday) really did not set well with me for them to get a discount when they never served a second,, I am sorry it made you mad but they had to do something to try and stop the fraud,,,, I am glad they do honor the discounts as well
cnt

I recently saw the change in home depot. They said htere's a few ID forms they accept, such as the green ID, the CAC card, or the "department of veteran's affairs" card, which you can get at almost any va hospital, regardless of whether you have a service connected disability or not.

I stopped buying from Home Depot a long time ago. They sell nothing that I can't buy elsewhere.
Home Depot supports a lifestyle that I am not in agreement with! So do a lot of other merchants, and I do the same with them!

Don't hear no Home Depot ads on the radio station out here. That huge blowtorch of an AM station sends a signal all the way to the east county line. (If you're not too far to the north at the county line)
The only home depot you'd ever hear about here would be if somebody lived in an old railroad station.

I am going to write them a simple letter explaining why I will no longer be buying their product... AND that it's not the place of a manufacture to try to "steer" the moral compass.

I wouldn't waste the time. They have got thousands and they don't care.

I agree with you there Jiles, They ain't getting none of my money. I usually support my local hardware store and lumber yards, the little guys are always cheaper than the big stores anyway and I get store credit. Bought a new Stihl 362 chainsaw last winter and my local hardware store let me pay it over three months with no interest. I have buying from the same local stores for most of my adult life and will support them as long as they act right.

Last year, my wife and I built a 1.500 sq. ft. deck and all material was bought from a local lumberyard/hardware store. They matched Lowes price and beat them on a lot of lumber. Only thing I bought from Lowes, was the wood deck boards because they couldn't get enough in the time I had left to build.
Home Depot didn't get a dime!
HD also placed an ad in a local newspaper and they had an aluminum 6' step ladder for $36.00. Lowes same ladder was $74.00. They matched HD price on two ladders and gave an additional discount.
