for the Allis crowd (pics)

Saw this when we dropped some equipment off at an auction place on Monday.

I know nothing about Allis tractors... but the guy said it is a rare one because it has a Continental engine in it - that Allis put those engines in due to trying to keep up with production demand. (I have no clue if that is correct - just repeating what the man said.)

I liked the look of the old girl and thought some of you might like to see it. (I don't think it is for sale - looks like he keeps it at the edge of his property for eye candy.)

You were in Racine! That is an early UC otherwise known as an "All-Crop" tractor. The early ones did have Continental engines due to the fact that AC did not have an engine that size at the time. The later units had a model UM engine that AC designed and had contracted it to be built by Waukesha.

Thanks for posting!

Yep at Suess... we will be selling a JD corn head and a small field sprayer with a low-use pump on their August auction.

Thanks for the additional info!
As I said, I don't know much about Allis - but I do like "the old girls" of about most any brand name. :)

Actually Allis used Continental flat head engines in the very first U, UC, WC, & B tractors due to not having their own engines ready for production.

Handsome, HANDSOME treactor. Thanks, and it's nice to see it, but I hate to see venerable old tractors left outside, and startting to rust and rot away. That rust will get down, start to pit, grow, and she'll be gone. Shame.

Paul from MI,

Thanks for clarifying... I think I learn something here nearly every day.

Actually Paul, the early Us (first called Uniteds) and UCs used Continentals and the first WCs and Bs used Waukeshas not Continentals. The Waukesha WCs (first called Ws) are really rare with only two known to exist.
