Finally cut some hay but

With all the rain we got the stuff is so thick I am having trouble with the sickle bar mower clogging up. Some of the under growth is so thick that the swather board piles up big globs of hay. Have lezpadisa so thick and tall if is not funny.
 
I have an old NH 460 haybine but prefer the Farmall BA. One of the problems is that I have a belt on the BA sickle bar mower that is to narrow and it is slipping

That's an interesting thought. Over here when they used to use sickle bar mowers they always cut very early in the morning when the dew was on the ground. They said it "lubricated" the cutter bar and made mowing easier & faster.
 
I was cutting in the heat of the day around 4-5pm. I think it maybe that the belt on it is to narrow and slipping so going to replace it today and go from there. Plus it does not help that this hay took a bath a couple weeks ago so a lot of it is not standing up real good

Hi Rich; everyone over here who changed to 2 drum mowers found they would cut thick, tangled and laid-down grass so much easier and faster than with a sickle bar.

Never seen a belt drive sickle bar, only pitman type drive to the knife.
 
This unit has the pitman but it is driven from a belt. This is on a BA Farmall the mower is made for the Farmall A. As for a drum mower that is way to new and costly for me. I may end up using the old NH460 haybine and see how it goes but I much prefer the BA
