VALTRA TRACTORS

They are a good reliable tractor. The only short fall I know of on the actual tractor is they are not a high capacity hydraulic tractor. I actually sold these for a short time.

What I would be more concerned with right now is parts support. AGCO bought them out for the engines. I do not know how they will support the rest of the tractor.

Yes I know the Sisu engine, reliable, but you say hyd flow low...is this because of pump capacity...seen many in quebec, mostly in the 80-90 hp range , see them selling for 20-25 thous...that sound about right with under 3,000hrs...another quextion being which would you rather have since you used to sell them, this or a ford newholland....

Bill they where in the 14-15 GPM range in pump capacity. This is like the JD 30 and 40 series tractors. If you are trying to run a vacuum planter and other things they ran out of hydraulic flow. For just general field work and livestock care they would be fine.

They also did not offer bar axles. So wheel spacing could be an issue. Getting them down to 60 inches for narrow row carn was hard and then your turning radius was bad.

As for which I would like better??? Valtra or NH????? I would say total picture, it would be NH just because of dealer support. Valtra was just trying to get into the North America market in 2000-2005. They had few dealers and got bought up by AGCO soon thereafter. Part support from AGCO is getting real spotty around here. The Valtra tractor would be more rugged but dealership support and parts are just too big an issue.

have noticed that about parts where i live , middle new york....just the machine...looked at a few at expo quebec from a dealer in ste anne de sabervois, he usually has some for sale...

I worked at a dealer that sold a few of these in the
early 2000's. By a few I mean 4 or 5. I don't
remember model numbers, but 1 was a bigger
one, Maybe 175-200hp, and the rest were
90hpish. The turning radius on the bigger one was
horrible. A guy bought it with a 3 piece claas disc
bine only to mow hay with. You drove it
backwards for that. In the year I worked there, not
one of them came back for any sort of service.

Interesting, i'm looking todo general farm work, snow removal at my place with this valtar I'm looking at . Such work in field with my equip is not new stuff, equip from 70's & 80's that id use with this tractor, ploughing, tillage potentailly using it on my new holland hay wagon,..not much more...nothing tec. like air planters & the like..heck I still plant corn with a 2 row mtd on my jd 60, cultivate with a 2 row on my massey harris 30 & apply fish oil at same time/....( can use the 60 also for this...gassers cheaper than diesel units.)..currently use my 1080 to pick corn with or my massey harris 555 diesel units, Gassers for light work & diesels for heavy work is the way i go...

Never saw one down here in Texas. But I would look at part support.Even the best equipment is useless unless you have good part support.I have a
customer that bought a generator. Good unit and runs fine. But parts have to be ordered from China.Takes weeks to months to get them.

How true awaiting the ups guy to deliver a part...can be gut wrenching when somthing has to be done now!...just looking at alternatives...and that 1080 is relaible, trouble free ...just i see its getting old....

Was that Dennis McCormick? He never stayed with anything very long. Two or three years with one line of products was about his limit.

Sure was. Had some good lines he could sell there, massey, claas, h+s, manitou, terex wasn't too bad, but would push the junk because it was cheaper. After a while when people would come back wanting rhino, Belarus, and agricat parts and he couldn't get them. Lots of angry customers. I asked him one time why he didn't try to sell more massey stuff. He said there wasn't much of an agricultural market any more. I said baders seemed to be doing okay with it. He didn't think that comment was very funny. Wasn't surprised a bit when he went out.

Bill, I've had an 80 hp Valtra since
2002 and it has been a great tractor.
2000 hrs with only routine
maintenance. Hydraulics are strong on
my tractor and best of all no
computer. By the way, I Have 6 more
using tractors and they are all JD and
the Valtra holds its own with any of
them. George

It didn't surprise me either. I bought a new Hesston haybine from him, went back the next year for a set of knives and he wasn't selling Hesston anymore.

what model Valtra did you buy, it being an 80 hp unit, looking for one thats in that range , with cab & 4 by 4, with loader on it.

On parts support, I have a Branson and they are not well known. Dealers are only about 200 in the US. A lot of dealers just mix the
smaller ones in with other lawn care products and they are not their main money channel. Nearest dealer that handles the larger
ones is 50 miles away. Parts source is Korea but they have warehouses in TX. GA. and may still have one in CA..

So I'm mowing one day and a rock hits my cab door and being safety glass it shatters into a thousand pieces. Call the dealer
mentioned and they said they have 7 in a warehouse in Plainview, TX. Bought one and with no special charge, UPS had it at my
house in 3 days.

I figure if a remote dealer can get a part like that to you in 3 days with no super shipping charge, why worry about one being around
the corner?

Besides, when I buy a tractor, I don't want one that's in bed with a repair facility!

have thought of that buying parts on line & a phone call away...awaiting the ups guy to show up with parts.... A tractor like that... a scaner a must....as is with all cars & trucks now...
