Have a 2" ball hitch on my cross-ways drawbar on my 3-point. When I pull a trailer, starting or stopping, it slams the draw-bar back and forth really hard. How do you guys prevent that?

My ferguson does the same thing. Makes it nearly impossible to back up. Best I've been able to determine is to put aa short chain from the pto housing to the draw bar links. Haven't tried it yet though.

You and Fatjay need a cross drawbar support/hitch. Ferguson had them and I think Ford as well. Here is a picture of one.

If I understand your problem correctly they make a bracket just for that purpose TSC. sells them and I believe this sight also sells them. Others bolt a piece of flat stock to the drawbar with a U-bolt around the lift arm.

I made one for a Ford for like this. It's only on one side across the corner, but it keeps it from twisting. I took flat stock and burned two holes in one end. A U bolt goes over the lift arm and holds the flat stock to it (finger tight). At the drawbar end I blew a larger hole in the flat and went through the last hole with a large bolt with a nylon lock nut. Done.

You should get sway bars for your three-point hitch. They make a huge difference for all three-point mounted implements, particularly the heavy ones.

A regular drawbar is a better choice than a three-point mounted drawbar. It puts the tongue weight closer to the rear axle.

Using a ball hitch on the 3pt crossbar is quite unsafe. That is not what it was meant for. Get a swinging drawbar kit for your tractor.

Our 8n had that exact drawbar- the vee with 2 J bolts. The ends where the J bolts went thru were turned up to catch the out side of the lift arms. Our Allis Chalmers hay rake used a ball hitch instead of a hitch pin,and the drawbar was very rigid. We did not use the stays very often(the bars from the top link to the drawbar),so the lift could raise and lower if needed. If you look closely, you can see a small chain from the right stay going to the lift control lever-it had stop on it to prevent you from trying to raise the lift when the stays were on.Mark
