The Kraft/Heinz merger thing is turning out about how I expected. Consolidation, elimination of duplicate Kraft/Heinz jobs. 6 or 7 Kraft plants closed (that weren't doing well anyway in some cases) nationwide. One plant going to close in NY. Lowville plant going to build on and take on that production. 110 new jobs for the Lewis Co. area + the construction jobs.

Scuttlebutt was that 3 plants in NY were under consideration for closing. One announced so far. In spite of the hostile business environment in NY, Kraft-Lowville seems to be able to produce cheese more efficiently that most of Kraft's other plants.

This actually becomes an opportunity for me, Heinz is my customer, so I am now a vendor for Kraft, but hurts the workforce by reducing jobs.

When I was in Watertown yesterday I heard the Lowville Philly cream cheese plant is hiring something like 116 people. Lucky for that farm just south of town that must milk 10,000 head.

Locally-Madison, Wisconsin- the big headlines are the Oscar-Mayer shutdown about mid 2017. Cussin back and forth about nnalert labor policies, nnalert lack of incentives, Union rep saying most of workers knew something like that was coming because buildings weren't designed for best current production methods- example was 7th floor hot dog line meant lots of up and down transport. Maybe a good thing in end- politicians scrapping about plans to build a big new office building so state depts. not scattered around town, the need for parking or bus access if downtown--now 7-8 story , good condition building with lots of transport access, parking lot space, industrial state of art fire protection system, heavy wiring already installed in most area will be available in 2 years- just after main elections. Wonder if the Dem politicians will bring it up first? RN

Hey wait a minute guys! Didn't you just hear a few minutes ago President O say Oct jobs way higher than expected and we have the logest running job increases on record! Happy Days are here again! (LOL)

I had to change the channel, I was gonna watch noon news and I just couldn't watch that. I won't say more, I don't want to be political.....

Target store closing locally, there is a Kraft plant in town, ag economy looks kinda gloomy after several good years, the Menards and Walmart stores in town both have rumors of not doing well (tho without target they probably will improve?).

I donno, doesn't see we are in a good place or improving.

To the best of my knowledge they do not market any milk to Kraft in Lowville. I don't believe they ever have. The Lowville producers Co-Op is the primary supplier of milk to Kraft Lowville.
