tractor add on hydraulic pump

i have a john deere 850 with a add on 3point backhoe, the pump the last owner installed on the pto shaft wasnt up to my expectations, and according to northern tool help wasn't designed to work with that application, i replaced it with a much larger prince pump these pumps are shown in the catalog sitting upright that is with the larger part of the pump up, im having clearance issues with my upper link mount that way, does anyone know for sure, can i run it with the large part facing down? i can turn the pump around and the rotation will be correct, but im not sure if the pump is designed to work that way , the upper link is critical as it also mounts the top of the backhoe to the tractor

IMHO, pump body orientation is of no consequence, so long as the pump is being driven in the correct direction.

Assuming the pump is not inside a housing used as the reservoir, no issue. If a reservoir, the intake point must be low to assure oil delivery, and the fill point is in a good location. Jim

If you have the prince hydraulic pump, is the PRINCE PTO PUMP TORQUE BAR KIT enough to keep pto seal from leaking? I see the pump weights 40lbs-lot of weight on pto shaft thats spinning.

thanks for your help, on the torque bar kit, it doesn't look too substantial to me, so im welding some steel brackets together to bolt under the tractor and go directly to the bolt holes in the side of the pump, that will help take some weight off the pto shaft bearing as well as make a solid mount between the pump body and the tractor so it doesn't twist , the original small pump from the last owner used a piece of baling wire for this, needless to say it wasn't doing its job well

I am not sure why anybody would use a pto pump when the tractor's factory pump has enough capacity for a small backhoe. Did they not understand how to tap into the tractor's hydraulics and used a pump instead ?
Hydraulics:
Type: open center
Capacity: 4.75 gal [18.0 L]
5.25 gal [19.9 L] *
