How's the guy with the damaged finger?

I thought we used to be able to search a forum but I cannot find that now. Anyone know how to do that?

Not to long ago a member damaged his finger with a jack and debated to shorten the bone or not. I do not remember his name nor do I know how to search for him.

So, does anyone know how this member is doing or maybe he can give us an update if he sees this.

Thanks for asking. I went back to the orthopedic Dr at the two week mark. He took a look and said it was healing up pretty good. I left with a bandage over the end as opposed to the wad of gauze I went in with. I've since moved on to two bandages for padding, covered with tape for protection.

He said I may get a nail back, I may not. IF one does come back it's probably not going to be normal in any way. If it becomes problematic he said he could do surgery and remove it completely. I'm hoping I don't have any issues in that regard, but only time will tell.

I actually got back to work about a week ago. I've been fortunate and only hit it to the point of hurting twice... within a two hour period. The biggest thing that bothers me now is if it gets cold, it throbs like crazy. Given what I've heard, I'm looking forward to that feeling for a long time to come.....YEAH.....LOL

Like I said, I'm doing pretty good. I'm just thankful I got away without being hurt any worse....and a 1/4 inch one way or the other could have made things a lot worse.

If you need a bandage over the end of your finger, try SURGITUBE. Its a lot easier to put on, and no opening on the end to let the dirt in. Sold in drugstores and on Amazon.

I glad to hear you are on the mend and doing good with it. I know that pain your talking about when it gets cold, Boy do I know that feeling. It gets better over time but it will always bother you to a point. Do what the doctor tells you to do and don't over do it and you will be in good shape. Bandit
