American Pickers

Setting here watching American Pickers and got to thinking it would be cool if they had a show called American Ag Pickers. Specializing in all Ag equipment. Bet a man could learn alot with a good show like that.

A few years back that duo did a show in Mn. They bought uncle John's STUCK type M on a Factory cart. All things considered it was about a $350-400 engine. When they had it appraised the appraiser told them $600. What!?
Well, we know the auctioneer who appraised it and he said he was handed his script by their producer. So be it.

You have to remember that show is scripted,in my opinion they buy almost everything cheap except for cars and motorcycle parts. Those they seem to pay too much for.

(quoted from post at 22:10:07 01/18/16) I hate those guys, they are ruining the game. Here are photos of our typical setup at the big auto swap meets. We will be at Turlock in 2 weeks by the horse barns, and in San Diego for the Big 3 next month.

I need 2 of those rake wheels. I have a front axle mounted windrow inverter. I wish you lived closer. Shipping those things would be crazy.

I sold all of them, most being converted to chandeliers. I can get more, but shipping is steep. I still have the arms those swung on in the scrap pile.

This show and storage wars are dumb, but interesting to an extent at least on what they "find". I don't understand how they can value their purchases and immediately consider it profit. Counting your profits before the sale is not a good business model but I guess it works for the shows.

This is where my wife reads the screen over my shoulder and says "oh - there you go - strap a camera on and maybe you could actually make some money from all the 'treasures' you find".

It would be interesting to know how much the "gaudy tattoos" cost that Danielle the store manager sports. I like to see the interesting objects they find and I agree stating a profit before it's sold is absurd.

Maybe during the same Minnesota swing -- Mike and Frank picked from twin brothers in St. Peter in southern Minnesota. I've heard that although these brothers (big toy collectors) never sell anything, they were told they had to sell a few things or they couldn't be on the show. Can you say fake, phony, scripted? (OK, still marginally entertaining at times.)

First thing you need to realize pickers is a tv show. If they didn't make it like they have it wouldn't be so popular. Its the only one that really has survived. I like it because of the knowledge they put out. Same thing on pawn shop. The storage wars shows have really gone down. They haven't changed much from when they came out. I rarely watch them anymore. Pawn stars and pickers has changed and are just as popular today as they were when the came out. Prices are some times a little suspect but the information some times is priceless. Just my 3 cents worth.

It is just a TV show. The prices are not right. On one show them dragging a vintage Airstream on the original Tires from Ohio yet it when it arrived at my friend Vince DeMartinico's house it was on a flatbed along with their van
