Hi-Compression Products- Washington Iowa

Hi-Compression Products from Washington Iowa manufactured and sold products to raise the compression on distillate burning
John Deere tractors which enabled them to burn gasoline.

The kit contained 2 rings that were installed in the cylinder block, they were located in the block by adaptors that went in the spark plug holes which necessitated the spark plugs be changed from the Champion D16's to J-8's.

Also included in the kit was a Manifold which, and I forget if it was a cold or hot manifold.

My Dad imported a lot of these kits to our Deere dealership in Newdale Manitoba Canada, becoming the western Canadian Distributor many long years ago.

I had a set of the Hollingsworth ones for JD "B" I sold a year ago. They had a slit down the length of them and were a "squeeze fit" as I remember. They had reliefs for the valves and a notch for the spark plug but I don't think it was to lock in the insert. That insert wasn't going anywhere. I think the literature said they raised cr approx one point.

Mark, Now that you mention it I remember the slit in the inserts, I'm in my 80th year and was still in school when Dad was doing this so it was quite awhile ago.

Thanks,

Jim
