FROM MICHIGAN IN NEED OF A COUPLE REAR TRACTOR TIRES AND RIMS.THINKING ABOUT SHOPPING IN ONTARIO WITH THE EXCHANGE RATE BEING WHAT IT IS.HAS ANYONE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE DOING BUSINESS WITH OUR NEIGHBOUR? NOT SURE IF THERE WOULD BE A IMPORT TAX.
THANKS FOR ANY THOUGHT'S

You will need to check . In years before we got charged a
exsize tax that more than wiped out the exchange rate . Dont
think you could sneak the tires across customs very easy .

When Canadian prices are about 25% higher than here, the exchange rate kinda makes it a wash. When I find a decent deal the fine print says "US Funds" LOL!

Never mind anyone telling you all type of story . If you get a good price go ahead all you need is an invoice from the seller and tell him to write a salvage price and you will get through the custom without any problem, only thing important is that they are clean . I sold a Backhoe cab to a customer from Michigan 9 hours drive to north near Ottawa 3000.00, two years ago the person went through custom without any problem and that cab was very nice and clean. .

Problem is our tire prices are about 25% or so more expensive than States pricing to begin with. Add to that our Ontario environmental taxes/disposal fees and 13% sales tax and the exchange rate is pretty much wiped out.

We charge a 33% premium on those people who type in all capitals.

Guys here in Eastern Ont. go to Quebec for tractor tires as they don't have the environmental tax on them. Used to be too that car and truck tires were a lot cheaper in NY state than here. That's gone with the exchange rate now.
