Import antique tractor from Canada

New experience for me. Looking at buying a tractor in Canada and bring to the USA by commercial truck. Could someone tell me what
kind of paper work is needed and cost? One trucking firm mentioned that I would need a broker to do paper work and furnish a
bond. The tractor was made in the US. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Just contact the Canadian Border authorities. Then contact the US Border authorities. Google it...you will get where you need to go.

If 20 people answer you here you will get 20 different ideas.

You need information you can count on.

Me & my Dad imported a H, but went the other way. US to Cdn. What we were told, call ahead with serial number. And make sure its clean, not spotless. Just have the dirt washed off, as somebody might have any issue. Like was said, call the border people. No idea on broker, as we brought it across ourselves. Good luck.

The s/n tag/stamp should be clean and intact and the driver should know where to find it. U. S. Customs will check and verify the numbers against the paper work.BTDT. Brought an A C 4 wheel ariculated monster from Sasktoon to Gillette on a cold winters day, spent an hour at the border looking for the s/n, couldn't find it, the old inspector finally let me go,
the buyer pointed out to me on delivery, stamped onthe upper back half of the frame in the pinch point on the right hand side.

I have done a few US to Canada. If you are close enough to the border that you can meet the truck at the border you can do all your own paperwork in person. Just have the serial number, a bill of sale, and a bill of origin showing where the tractor was made (your local dealership can supply this). Make sure the tractor is CLEAN before getting to the border. You will need to pay an inspection fee and applicable state taxes. Call your nearest border crossing for more info.

If you are not close enough to the border you will have to hire a broker to do the paperwork for you. Fees are typically $200-$300. Or hire a trucking firm that works with a broker and can give you an "all in" price delivered to your door. That is the easiest way to go but also the most expensive.
