does anybody know how to reset the track spring adjustment nut? I have the locknut loose but the pressure from the spring is holding the adjustment nut from moving,I assume  Do you have to release tension on the spring & how exactly is that done :?

If that's a garage door opener, DO NOT DO NOT proceed until you know what' you're doing. I almost killed a nice little old lady one time, standing next to the door and I did NOT know what I was doing.

I'm assuming you are asking about the recoil
spring on a dozer or excavator? If so, yes,
you would probably have to compress it to
tighten or loosen the nut, unless it's a
tiny one on like a 450 dozer. PC400 Komatsu
spring takes about 35 tons to compress
enough to get the nut on.

Ithought this was the [b:54c4ae68af]TRACTOR[/b:54c4ae68af]forum where do garage doors come in?

If you want to play technicalities there is a crawler/dozer forum, so this post is really not in the perfect place. If you want help you need to adequately describe the machine and problem and people here will help. Some of the best mechanics in the country are right here, but you need to post specifics in order to get the best help.

FWIW garage doors and other mechanical issues are commonly discussed here as well as tractors.

Which is it Kansas, one I posted in the wrong place, two other things are commonly discussed, I'm scratchin my head?

Any ideas on how I accomplish that as I have'nt bee able to budge it with a 30"cheater on the wrench?

There is a site for old JD crawlers jdcrawlers dot com.

You will get very good expert advice over there.
