Update on backwards Kubota mower deck .....

I posted a message last week about a belly mower Kubota deck being converted to a PTO-driven 3-point hitch which resulted in the mower operating back to front, so the mower blades were turning correctly but the forward side of the mower was actually at the back. Anyways, have done some cutting and really, it works pretty good. Doesn't send a ton of grass out the chute of course and the grass simply drops straight down instead of being windrowed. Works good for regular grass cutting when set for lower cut height and also for edging a hay field at a higher cut height. I'll try to post a photo but it might not work, my camera images are maybe too large.

Here's a couple pictures.....

I thought it would work good. A great man told me many years ago when I was just a 20 year old kid operating a multi-wall bag machine, "Son, if it works, don't fix it!" So for the last 37 years I have lived by that idea and it has worked well for me. Even though I left that bag factory 21 years ago, production records I set on two particular machines still stand today!

Hey Crazy Horse,

RUN THE WHEELS OFF THAT THING!!!!!

CH If you can post or send me a close up picture of your gear box .. Think it would take about 30 minutes to change the rotation.

Tom posted a couple of pictures ........ I didn't realize he took a couple of photos when I was mowing (sneaky guy). Reversing might be possible but there might be some clearance issues with the lower u-joint on the PTO and the front side of the deck. That was not the original drive set up remember. Seems to work OK for our needs at our tractor club site, not a lot of mowing to do. Pretty much just around our pulling track and the hay crop that is finally growing after a very dry spring.
