Oliver and MM combines today

Was at the scrap yard today and spotted these old gals there. Pretty apparent that the unload auger for the MM is in the Oliver, and the Oliver unload auger is on the MM. The Oliver had a terrible cobble job done to the rear axle, it had been broke off and a "new" one made, poorly, of a piece of pipe. Both had the flathead engines in them. And then I spotted the White cab hiding in the grass. Most Oliver stuff I'd seen there in a while. Never seen an Oliver combine up close before, so I had to check it all out and see how it's set up.

When I was a kid, our neighbor had an Oliver combine. I only remember it because the engine was on the left side of the machine, about 4-5 feet off the ground.

Yeah that seems about like how these were mounted, about that high. They sure are a funny machine when you are used to Gleaners!

I think the MM is a later 1960s one since it is Cockshutt red. Wouldnt mind having one myself.

Which yard were they in Ross? I have a lift cylinder for the header leaking real bad on my 7300. It'd be a whole bunch simpler of I could just swap out the whole cylinder instead of rebuilding mine.

They were at Ashley Salvage, at the back of the yard. I didn't happen to notice if either of them had the lift cylinders on it or not

Yes sir, that would be the one. Let me be clear on this though, I'm not from that area, and never have been... Just get cheap parts there, and haul a little of my winter projects scrap there

Somebody should probably salvage the windows out of that White cab and save them. If I get time,I'll run over and see if I can do that.

Talk to Denny, the owner's son. Reddish haired guy about 35ish, he'll give you a better deal than his old man. I know what you mean about the glass, dad spent over $500 on 3 side windows for 3 different tractors.
