NH. 638 Round baler

I just got a 638 nh round baler couple weeks ago it makes a nice 4x4 baler but it doesn't seem to clean up the window all that great seems to leave just a little bit of hay not much to really worry about but makes the field look a little trashy to me.the pickup is next to new condition baler only has 1500 bales through it must be the nature of the beast as to say anyone out there have one.

Recently bought one of these, Haven't had that problem Teeth in good condition, pickup in lowest positon?
 

What kind of hay? My JD baler doesn't pick up short bermuda hay as well as taller hay.

Another thought, how close to the ground did you cut? If I cut my hay closer than 3" it is harder for my baler to pick it up.
 
There could be several things that will make the baler not pickup the windrow.

1) Did you set the baler to YOUR drawbar height??? This is an important setting on a round baler. If your drawbar is higher than the original owner the pickup will not go down all the way.

2) Short second crop hay often will be too short for a clean pickup job. The hay itself is not long enough to hold together in the windrow for the bale to pickup all of it.

3) If you mowed the hay real short it makes it tough for the pickup to get the hay off the ground. I never mow under 2 1/2 inches and usually three.
 
I have a 630 and haven't had any issues like that. But while out in neighborhood I've noticed where they are using wheel rakes, and it doesn't rake the center, there is a lot of hay left.
