Some days you just shake your head

I hadn't even made it out the door this morning and somebody came knocking. There was a calf out. A wire was broken,so I had to fix that before I even did chores.
Then the real aggravation. I just put new wheel bearings in the left front wheel on the 77 narrow front yesterday morning. I took the plug out of the right side and pumped that full of grease until it started oozing out. So this morning I was backing away from a feed bunk and that one squalled and wobbled then fell right off. Too much lubrication I guess.
Darned good thing it's Sunday so I don't go out and break anything else. lol

rrlund do not touch anything that is not broken!!! LOL It seems like many times when I try to maintain things better they break faster.

I'm scared to walk out the door with the equipment breakdowns I've had this year. I think I will go putter on the combine a while. The auger is already broken so if can't get any worse, right?

You mean you expected it to go otherwise? :) I was working on trenching power to a grain bin yesterday. 300' of trench and I got all but 3' done when the digger chain jumped off the bar and broke the #80 chain that drives it. This was at 5:00 on Saturday and the closest stores would be closed before I got there. Being lazy I thought I'll fix the chain on Sunday and finish it up quick. Then it rained a bit this morning which will muddy things up quite a bit, but have only had 2 rains in 2 months now so it should soak up quick.

That sort of reminds me of my 1935 JD-B on steel wheels. I was told once I could not have a flat on it. But the guy who said that got this for an answer back. I told him you sure as heck can have a flat and I have had one on it. He looked at me and said how. I told him I was driving it up the driveway and one of the front wheels fell off and landed flat on the ground so yep you can have a flat on a steel wheel tractor

"The auger is already broken so it can't get any worse, right?"

How much do you want to bet on that? LOL

My brother in law borrowed an old steel wheeled horse drawn mower one time to cut some stuff and he actually broke a piece right out of a wheel on that. He's the only guy I ever knew that could have a flat tire on a steel wheel.

Yep have those days also, Friday was a one of them, went to clean the gutter and apparently the cows had rubbed on the chute enough in the years there was not much weld holding the upright for the chute, it fell down with a THUD! Took the Bobcat picked it up and fixed it, then hauled 2 loads of poop, second load the apron broke and wrapped one of the slats around the beater, had to shovel off 2/3 of a load.

Ya,it wasn't even easy getting the bearings that I knew I already had here to fix the darned thing. There's another front end down back,so I grabbed a pair of Channel Locks and headed down there with the 1365. It had to be tipped up out of the dirt so I could get to it easier and the lane was too muddy to ride the four wheeler down there anyway.
I took the cotter pin out and couldn't get the nut off with the Channel Locks. I had a 12 inch Crescent wrench with me but it wouldn't open wide enough. I had to drive back up and get the 24 inch. That meant getting off in the mud to open and close a gate again. I got the nut off, then the hub wouldn't come off,the outer bearing wouldn't slide off the spindle. Back up to the shop through the mud to get a bigger hammer than the claw hammer I had in the tractor toolbox so I could knock the darned thing off.
I guess on the bright side,I had the parts here. It just would have taken less time to go to town and get new ones.

Actually having a section break out of a steel mower wheel is quite common. And also the main frame. Usually the frame can be welded up but wheel is harder to do. If I can find any wheels at a swap meet for a McCormick No. 7 mower the mower repair man that I work with wants me to get them for him foe replacing busted wheels both rim and hub.

Ya still need to push the feller back in and no matter how much you wipe the grease from your fingers it finds a spot you missed! LOL

RR for me that stuff goes in series or three's!!!! IF you had 5 tractors or balers none of them would work!!!

"Some days it is a reverse Midas touch."

That's where everything you touch turns into a muffler! :) :) :)

ust use the spare spoon in your shirt pocket. That is what the waiter at the restaurant told me he used it for............unless a customer needs a spoon for his soup.
