Real Rare AC auction Aug. 22!!!! Last AC Built

(quoted from post at 21:12:53 08/03/16) There is an up coming action of some real rare low houred AC tractors. One of these being the last AC ever to be built an AC 6070 with 29 hours. Machinery Pete has video of a walk through this collection and it is amazing!!!

Probably should have spent the $$$ on that 6070 instead of the 5525 huh!??

I've always had a soft spot for A/C. We frequently used Grandma's '46 WC when we were short a tractor while growing up. Pretty snotty little tractor!

some pretty nice tractors there.

always liked AC since i pretty much learned how to drive on a WD45 and D17. But never thought the hand clutch was a good substitute for live PTO. always thought they were too far behind too long not having live PTO. The D-series would have been the time to do it but they didn't or even in the hundred series.

Everyone always brings up the "independent" pto thing with the AC's, but I know the work I do it is a definite advantage to be able to stop the pto and tractor with just one clutch, as when I brush hog and roto-till. The other advantage is the neutral position of the oil-cooled power director which is great for brushhogging. Being able to creep around trees, through heavy brush or grass, and slow down for turning without shifting gears or throttling back is a big plus. Running this new JD with a mower just makes me appreciate the Allis setup that much more. The only thing the JD has going for it is an air conditioned cab, power reverser and Epto. Now the 6070....that was a step back for AC in my opinion because it has independent pto but no power shift.....

They do have live pto- you"re wanting independent pto. IPTO can be started or stopped independent of tractor motion or foot clutch.

I knew this auction was going to happen when Don passed away. I was hoping it would have been able to stay together.

Can you use the power direction (hand clutch) like a power shift? Can you move it fast enough between the high and low side that the tractor doesn't come to a stop while moving under heavy load?

That's the way it is designed. The mechanical power directors are very smooth, hydraulic ones on the bigger tractors can be a bit jerky at high rpm. If you don't lock them in hi or low you can use them like an automatic transmission....since they run in oil you can slip them without hurting them.

Yep shift up or down any time and it holds back in high and low.Like Eldon says it has its advantages just takes a little getting used to.I have tractors with the AC set up,2 stage clutches and PTO that can be engaged and disengaged with nothing to do with the foot clutch like my Olivers and my IH 464 Industrial. They all amount to the same thing the the PTO keeps running
while the tractor can be started and stopped.
