No Fuel Flow to Bottom of Carburetor

My VAC Case has good fuel flow when I remove sediment bowl, but nothing out the bottom of the carburetor. Tapping carb lightly with a hammer did nothing. Assuming the gas line to be open, what is the likely problem? Chunk of dirt in the needle & seat? Gas line is in back of carb. Carb is not real easy to remove. Want to be sure of myself before removing carb.

Thanks,
Glenn

You much have a different carb set up on your VAC then I do. I just replaced the fuel line on the VAC I got the other day. Turned the gas on and hit the starter button and I about jumped away from it. It started so fast it about scared me.
If you can get a wrench on the line see if you can crack it open just a little bit. You should be able to make it drip a good bit with out taking it all the way off. Of course if you do not get a good drip then your likely to have to pull the line all the way off but if you get a good drip then you may have to pull the carb off because the needle or float is stuck shut

I did last fall & ran it very little after. Tractor sat (inside) till I got back to working on it about a week ago.

It probably has a stuck needle/seat valve.

You might get lucky and be able to reach through the drain plug hole in the carb with a soft blunt object, like a Qtip or match stick and bounce the float a few times, see if it will come loose. Maybe get a can of Berrymans, spray up inside the bowl toward the needle/seat.

There may also be a screen in the inlet fitting of the carb that may be clogged.

Normal gas flow is out of tank bottom outlet into the sediment bowl, out its top (some have fine screen mesh filter on top) to carb via gas line, through needle and seat, into carbs bowl.

Can you remove the inlet line to the carb to verify good flow there?????? If not the sediment bowl assembly up top or the fuel line from bowl to carb must be clogged up (assuming good flow INTO sediment bowl from tank). Ive seen many gas tank outlets (some of thse have screen mesh also) plugged up with rust and dirt

If theres good flow in the line from sediment bowl to carb BUT THE CARBS BOWL ISNT FILLING I suspect the needle valve and seat assembly is gunked up and sticking. A lot of Gumout into the carb and tapping might clean it out but may not grrrrrrrrrr

Other possibility the carb bowl top vent is clogged up and shes air locking. Look for small vent holes on top of carb that may be clogged up.

If all well if you open the carb bowls bottom drain cock or plug and turn gas on there should be a constant steady stream of gas at least size of a lead pencil lead.

he fuel inlet fitting on the carburetor also has a fine mesh filter, or at least it is supposed to. You'll need to remove the fuel line from the carburetor and then remove the inlet fitting. If that filter is all crudded up, chances are good there is crud in the carburetor also.

When we went to ethanol fuel, I found that my floor activated needle valves were hanging up. I put shut offs in the lines of any tractors that didn't have them. Now I shut off the fuel and run the carbs dry every time I use the tractors. Solved the problem.
