Good deal??

I think that I would borrow a good starter before going to look. $1500 may be a very low price for a 5000 especially with the tires, but it is a lot for scrap.

Manual steering, and by fenders a UK built tractor (different wiring harness for sure, other differences). Data plate should be under RH hood panel. Archives here should have info on decoding model, build date etc.

The grill tells me that because for USA they did not put lights in grill. That tractor has a Lucas electric system and most auto electric shops either cannot or will not work on the starter or generator. If you are luckey to find a place that can work on the starter plan on at least $200 probably more to get it rebuilt and finding a replacement questionable.

Probably brought in from Canada at some point....see quite a few tractors around here that were not sold in the US market.

Hi If it runs ok and only really needs a starter, where else can you get a diesel tractor with good tires recent/rebuilt motor and 3 point for that price.
Power steering would be nice though. I would check the motor oil for water . That looks like an original block and they had a bad habit of eating blocks internally through the cylinder bores or I think where the cam shaft runs. It is an English spec tractor, it could of come over new, or been a used tractor import in more recent years.
As for the lucas starter, I bet this site sells them, or a well known auction site. I just pulled up a 5000 starter and there was about 2 acres of models it fitted in the USA listing I found, and pretty cheap to. It actually fits more than that model ford, and many other makes/model of machine to.
