cant turn off caterpillar 518 skidder

Helped buddy put new solenoid on starter and got skidder running. Now how do we turn it off???

Without knowing the machine exactly it's hard to say. However, looking at specs for the machine they had either a D333 or a 3304 engine. That being the case, more than likely, you activate a fuel shut off lever on the injection pump.

On many of the older articulated, rubber tired, loaders, you pull the throttle peddle UP toward you. This moves the throttle/shutdown lever to the off position and shuts off the fuel at the injection pump. To start simply push back down on the peddle to put it back in the run position.

Not 100% sure this is right, but I'm making an educated guess here, and hope it works for you.

Thank you. You are correct. It has the 3304 engine and you pull up on toe of pedal to turn it off. I managed to get ahold of a buddy late last night.
