Some Progress on my new wood hauler

I have had lots of projects on the go, yard work and garden projects, but the last couple days I got in some shop time to fab up my bigger wood hauler. Running out of Kubota shipping crates so I had to order some new steel, for this project and a couple of other winter projects. Got both side assys. fabed up and tacked to the base bed framework. The steel floor is 12G. steel, and the side flares are 16G.
Did a little math and the struck load capacity is 147 cu.ft. It soould be able to hold a bit over a cord of firewood randomly dumped into it from my elevator. (no more stacking to bring home a cord).
It is just sitting on a NH running gear at the moment. Hopeing to find an old box spreader with 8 bolt hubs and 20" wheels that I can canibalize and built a two wheel chassis to put under it. Not real crazy about using a 4 wheel wagon gear under it in the woods. I have a pair of SA boom cylinders off an old Case ldr. that I will utilize to dump the body with.

I hauled those KUBOTA racks to the farm for years. At one time I think I could have fenced 30 acres with them. Been over 10 years now with no new ones. I have let folks have them and used many to stack lumber on. My pile is getting on down. Can,t think what it would be to be without racks.. I was apprehensive at first when they came out with the return racks but all has worked out well. For years we got some kind of hard wood crate. Used a lot of that wood also. The trailer really looks good. Wished we were closer I would restock your rack pile

I hope that you sweep out those leaves before you do more welding. With a helmet on, you can't tell what is on fire until it starts coming up your pants leg. Just saying.

Looks nice Loren - where do you get your steel? I used to get it at Otsego Iron + Metal, but since they've closed I've been getting it in Albany, which is a long way to go. Also, did your uncles seed something with their oats? It looks like they're greening back up

Pete, I got my steel from Steel Sales Inc. in Serburne. They had a booth at the faim progress show, and told me that their delivery truck was in the area on Weds and Fridays. Before this delivery I was buying steel from Pacemaker/Millar in Utica. Their delivery truck is up this way on Thursdays. STI was about 60$ cheaper and didn't have a 50$ delivery charge on this 1000# order. They are nice people to deal with, and will continue to deal with them.
As per your question about the oat fields, Yes some of the fields were seeded to alfalfa, and the oats were a cover crop. Stop buy again, when you have time.

Dick, Yea, I had the overhead door open for about an hour yesterday so I could run the wagon out and turn it around. Wierd day today, Fery blustery and temps in low 80s A killing frost Sunday, loosened the leaves and it seamed that the wind blew all them into my shop when the door was open.
