Looking in to PODS

This last month I have been doing the thing I hate the most. MOVING I had sold my place to the University next to me which means yes I am moving. I have been making trips to my parents house and putting stuff on the land. Tring to find a storage unit in there town is like very slim (Little Town means hard to find). I am going to POD the rest of the stuff that I need and give the rest away. So my question is has any body use this company called PODS and are they any good.

Any cheap box trucks to buy in your area ? Buy one fill it up and then resell it later on. Up here around last year someone had a box truck that came with removable boxes. Had 2 boxes total. You could drop one and leave it on stands. Never seen one like it and was trying to tell my sister to buy it for when she moved.

I look into buying a used shipping container (40')
The idea of paying rent on storage, just is IMO not a good idea as a little while often turns into years.

We checked on it when we were remodeling our house and wanted to try and keep everything close at hand but it was crazy expensive, not only the monthly fee but the delivery fees were also ridiculous.

Old box truck, a shipping container, or even an old van trailer would be a much better use of your money. Not sure where you'd find such things in your area, but apparently you can get old van trailers pretty cheap.

Okay I check in to PODS and PACK RAT both companies do not service where I am moving to. I guess it is to much in the sticks for them. Now it is for plan B find a place that sells those Cargo Hauler trailers. Check out some prices and see what they run. Still trying for figure this out.

If you have room rent a 53 foot dry van. You can hire some trucker to move it and just pay a monthly rent until you have it empty.

A few years ago my brother moved back here from nev. he used pod. The only complaint he had was they wouldn't deliver it to Columbia, it had to be either kc or saint louis. Cost him to rent a U haul truck to go get his stuff, lot of work loading it, then loading it into a truck, then unloading it at the house, plus fuel.

Thank you every body for your information on this ideal I had. I went for a drive today and I had found me a place that sold car trailers, open trailers and cargo hauler trailers. I looked around and found me one that I thought would do the job of what I needed. I bought myself a close cargo hauler, two axles with electric brakes and it is new. I plan to move my stuff in it and park it on my parents property. When I get to move in to my new / used house I will then up pack it. I like the ideal of one time pack up and then unload (it just sounds so much easier.
