picked up the u-haul today and burban is all ready fer the road trip tomorrow. took you guyzez (is that a word?)advice and i am gonna take i-72 to hannibal mo and then head south to columbia so i dont have to go thru pittsfield and the over the spooky bridge at Louisiana missouri. (i do have my nitro tables packed just in case its a white knuckle ride anyway.) swmbo is riding shotgun, she will prolly drive me nutz with side seat driving tips. if ya see me mosey by gimme a wave!! heres the rig picture. hard to believe how much stuff one daughter can accumulate at college.

Our youngest daughter lives in Hannibal. If you see a silver Kia van with a tall 30something red head driving like a bat out of he--, get out of the way and yell Hi, Cat as she flies by. Chris
 
Had a half day to kill there last summer. Like to have never found it (poor signage) but loved the Mark Twain Museum and down town.
 
They have redone the highway in the last 15 years so it is a big wide bridge across there now. The old Hannibal truck stop is off the new road now to the south. You will be getting off long before that to go to Columbia. The hill to the south of town is a good pull for you.

I never did like that darned bridge either. That was where the pike co. cops would stop any kids in a car, that was headed east toward Pittsfield, when the forth of July was coming up. Lost a load of fireworks to them, and had to have the old man , come and get me out.1957! What a year! Gradiated that year.
 
Tim i will be at the graduation tonight, friday, and there is an awards ceremony saturday morning. If you are there, look me up, i will be the big goof lookin real uncomfortable in a suit. Sheesh, i thought suits were only fer marry-ens and bury-ens!!!!
 
Glennster, you'll be happy to know that the river bridge at Louisiana is slated for replacement, completion in November 2019. I cross that bridge several times a year traveling between Columbia, MO and Pike County, Il, many times with a 30' trailer. I guess I'm used to it, just hoping I don't meet a semi in the middle if it. I will be happy the students are gone for a month here in CoMO, meaning you can drive around town much easier, and have a shorter wait at our favorite restaurants.
