Clipper 47b rebuild - Taking more & more.....

....Time and money! I figure I have twice what I was expecting into this thing, but it is nearing completion. We just have to install the freshly built roll-feed hopper, cross auger, ball trays, and front deck.

I scrapped my idea to use a tailings elevator off my parts Gleaner. Instead, I am using the tube from the tailings auger, and installing a poly cup auger into it. Then I'm going to haul 2 15 foot augers with me to the farms. The outlet auger will be poly cup, but the inlet auger will stay with steel flighting for now. If I get a lot of interest in cleaning soybeans, then I'll buy another poly cup for the inlet.

I didn't get a roll-feed hopper with this machine, so I bought another parts machine to use it. Unfortunately, it didn't have the gears to reduce the RPMS, so I bought a 43-1 inline speed reduction gearbox off fleabay to get the 5 rpm that the hopper is supposed to run. I bought a 16b from Alabama and we were able look at it for a pattern to make a totally new hopper.

I have an old roadside sprayer trailer I am mounting it on for now, but would like to buy an old horse trailer to put it in in the future. A horse trailer will allow me to portect the cleaner from road salt and rain, and allow for more storage for augers and screens. Just using what I have to get started.

Where did you get the brushes that run under the screens to knock the trash out? I need those for a 32 mill and the rope though the rope can be had most local places.
How are you going to level it when you set it up. Ours would shake itself right off that trailer. Dad even put some weights on the drive shaft to balance it when they set it up. Ours is inside with a 200 bushel bin over it. I need to see how you set up your clean grain removal. Ours has an auger under the mill with an old MM elevator from a combine. It is to slow at pulling the grain away from the auger with those flat paddles on the chain especially in the vertical position.

Is you machine a Clipper? I haven't heard of a 32. If it is a clipper, you can buy them direct from Clipper. for a 7 series machine, they are $30 each. I ended up buying ball trays and removing the brushes. They're basically boxes with screen bottoms that hold little rubber balls. The balls bounce just enough to knock the junk out of the screen holes. They're about $250 per screen & another $30 for the balls. The guy also sells a hardware kit to make them removable for $125, but I didn't buy them. I'll just screw them directly into the machine. To unload it, I am going to install a cross auger under the machine. The cross auger will dump into a lift auger that will drop into a gravity box, or into a drop to fill bags. I bought the poly cup auger from May Wes. The 5" costs $23 per foot. Here's a link -

As far as you machine shaking, you might have something wrong. On a Clipper, you should be able to set a quarter on the frame, and it should stay put. You might not have you machine secured well enough, or you might be running it too fast. The shaker shaft should run at 400 or 410 RPM. Running it faster really won't give you more capacity, and it will shake itself apart.

or so ago for $6800. The machine looked very nice.

I would caution you again about what you clean. I would have an
attorney draw up papers for your customers to sign. I have
talked to a couple bag suppliers about how many cleaners were
shut down because of lawsuits.
