I am trying to figure out the manufacturer of the distributor on a jeep 4 cylinder flat head industrial engine. The engine powers a tow behind Hobart welder which I believe from the 50's. Engine model number is cj2a. We have owned it for around twenty years and it needs points. Dad can't remember what he put in it last time and there is no tag on the distributor or numbers on the old points. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I buy most of the parts for my old jeep at Four Wheel Drive Hardware. https://www.4wd.com/?ppcfon=1&gclid=CjwKEAiAxKrFBRDm25f60OegtwwSJABgEC-Zz-nApBUFgNnwiHxVtD6kBSoQkPYJoners1gDHrGSoxoCPu_w_wcB

Contact them. They will know what parts you need.

I thought they had Delco distributors for a few years. I agree, post a picture.

If they are Delco, check out DR1HV or DR6HV as Niehoff numbers.

My 1956 M38a1 military has a civilian Autolite distributor. Points and condenser should be readily available from a good auto parts store. I think any Jeep 4 cylinder up to about 1960 used the same distributor.

I would hit your local parts store and see if ignition parts from a mid-40s Jeep would fit.

I don't have any part numbers readily available, but when I went to start my old Willys last summer, I had burned the points using 12v to jump start. I took the cap off and found that all my spare parts for my Case 300 and Case 530 4cyl. distributors fit perfectly.....points.....rotor.....cap.
