I need a picture of how the batterys wire up when switching to 12 volts.Also cables to starter. I'm a dummy when it comes to wiring so forgive me there. Thanks

I don't think many of us knew much at your age and we are all still learning.
Did it have a 24v or 12v starter on it. Reason I ask is it sounds like someone already changed it if it has a alternator.

Also slot of people don't understand johndeeres 24 volt system me included and I have one.

The starter said 24v on it so that prob what it was. Someone may have started the conversion or something. I know something isn't right with it right now because it dosnt charge the batterys I don't think.

IF STARTER HAS 24 V stamped on it then 12 volt batteries need to be attached in series not parallel. Below is a wiring schematic for 24 volt starter.

It's not just the batteries that need to be changed. If you're going 12 volt you need to see if it has been converted to 12 volt. I don't want to go into detail because I don't completely understand it but half of your system works on neg ground and the other half positive ground. There are lots of threads on converting. You're going to have to figure out what has been done. I will try to post a pic of 24 volt system.

Here is a pic of factory wiring. There was an update to this. The positive ground and negative ground should be hooked directly to each other then a jumper with a 20 amp fuse to the tractor frame. This photo may be able to help you figure out if you're has been converted or altered.
