MY lady wants to sell her car. She is also part owner of 8 tractors. The MKZ is a fully loaded 94,000 mile auto with oil changes at local dealer......what is the best she can do for price????? thanks len in mich.

Unfortunately, probably a lot less than you think. Some used cars do though gather a lot of attention, not sure if your wife's car falls into that category. You can go to Kelly Blue Book (use a Google) and you can get an idea. I think the Blue Book is retail, the Black Book is wholesale prices.

A quick look on the net looks like it would be in the $6500-8500 range depending on the options. The trouble is it is not new and not old enough to collect.

i use Edmunds, kelly blue book and nada. (There is also one call blacklist or blackbook but never got it to work.) then kinda look at them and see what makes sense. looking thru other places like craigsliist and eebay can give you an idea what others are asking/getting too.

you won't get dealer prices if you're selling yourself, don't expect it. I think most of the trade in values these guys will list will be higher than what a dealer will give you.

if you can get above trade in and close to "private Party" prices you're doing good. around here used car prices have fallen quite a bit. i've seen some 2 year old cars selling for $10-11,000 (1/2 of new price) with 25-40,000 miles. I've also seen a guy listing a 99 accord with 150,000 miles for $3500.. way too high.. he'll probably keep it.

depending on options if its in "average condition" Edmunds says between $3400 trade and $4200 private sale. if it has more options and is in cream-puff condition then more $

With 94,000 miles

Rough
Trade-In $4,200

Average
Trade-In $5,450

Clean
Trade-In $6,500

Clean
Retail $8,675

If you could get $7000 private party I would say you were doing well.

Considering it cost $28,000 to $32,000 new it cost at least 23 cents a mile before you paid for any gas, oil or repairs.

Not much for "options" on them - they came pretty much loaded. The only ones that NADA assign value to are the stereo, navigation and sun roof. To be honest none of them would ad a $1 to the price if I were considering it. I don't want a 9 year old navigation system, any factory stereo will be out classed by a $200 after market stereo when new, $100 stereo used, and I might deduct for a sun roof that might start leaking any time after tehcar is out of warranty.

The only option that might add value is the AWD system - which was fairly rare. I do like the 3.5 V6 in that size of car - should give it some real power.
