We finished spreading all the dry fertilizer yesterday. Then we switched the Prowler over to the liquid spray unit. This morning they sprayed some before the winds picked up. The ground is still too wet to do any tillage. The two finishers are hooked up and the tractors ready to go. Two of the three planters are hooked up and ready to go. The third is ready but that tractor is used for tillage until the corn is done and then they run three planters in beans.

The boys' custom farming business keep gaining acres. They have added over 800 acres this year alone. This really helps them cash flow better equipment than they could just farming their own ground. Right now over half of the total acres are custom work.

If we miss the rains this weekend the planters will be rolling later next week. The earliest planting date for corn with you still being eligible for crop insurance is April 11th this year. That means Wed.-Thur. things will get busy if it is dry enough.

They have a few hundred acres on some real sandy ground that gets no tilled it would plant now. So that is usually the first that gets planted.

Most of the rice crop in SW La. is planted and some of it is a good 6 inches tall already.I would bet some of the corn SW of Houston has been planted too

I could hardly get to the feed wagon with hay for the cows today. Water standing everywhere. Rain for the next 2 weeks about every fourth day.

Planted the first batch of sweetcorn today. 6 patches of 1/2 acre each, 68 day 72, 75, etc. All six different maturity. That will give about a two week supply from one planting. Now just have to plant about 1/4 to 1/3 acre about every 4 or 5 days from now until July 4 and I should have corn to sell through middle of September. Lord willing, that is!

I live in West Central Arkansas. All the corn is planted and up to a good stand. I think some of the farmers were planting some beans today.

Be safe.

Sw wisc amish plowing . I did a little with the disc it's kinda questionable . If it stays they will be running hard soon.

Wednesday I was traveling in Virginia and saw field work going on, so I was prompted to call my friend that I buy my fertilizer from. As I do pretty much every year I asked how much corn he had in the ground even though we got ten inches of heavy wet snow last week. He used to really push the season but he doesn't any more.

still want to renovate the pasture before the madness begins ,, last week ,been sowing alfalfa , clover , orchard grass and dragging it in , about a month ago i disced downcorn stalx with the DC and jdeer 14 ft disc ,. that ol' DC luved the Workout in 3rd gear. 4 yrs ago someone planted corn march 20th here in southern ind ,.it was harvesred and on the market aug 15th ..

I'm in So. central Mn. and I worked up some ground yesterday and seeded spring wheat today. Went in real nice. Thought about taking some pics but wanted to keep my nose to the grind stone in hopes of getting the 35 acre field done today. Almost made it too. 3 and 1/2 rounds left. I don't plant after dark as I like to keep the rows straight. I know it's only a wheat field and all blends together in 3 weeks, but for those 3 weeks I want people to say--man that guy drives straight with that grain drill. Rain starting tomorrow at 10:00 am. so I will finish those 3 1/2 rounds at first daylight and then hopefully get it dragged as I seeded some red cover with it. Keep you're fingers crossed that I get this done before rain!

I find how we farmers think amazing at times. We will take a change on NOT getting your crop planted just to make sure that the rows "look" straight for a few weeks until they fill in???? I have done that to a small degree but have out grown it. LOL

I have seen farmers that are always late getting thing done because they will not do them until everything is "PERFECT". So a balance is needed. A good job but done timely.

Post a picture of your straight rows. I never could drive as straight as my Grand Father did. I also do not get much practice either. Just about everything here is planted on contours to help control erosion.
