Who do you think.

Who was the person that was crazy enough to take a spray can of either or a can with butane in it and...... Pooomf!! It does work but who had 5he crazyness to do it.
mount that tire.

I've seen it done on video, and have wrestled with some that I about gave up on as hopeless...

But never had the huevos to actually try it! LOL

Have seen it done several times. Use just enough and it works pretty well. Too much and one heck of a bang. Have seen it blow the tire off the rim.

i am guilty as charged. I have done that it only as a last resort. Here is a good story...

I was riding atv's and came upon a large group of riders. About 45-50 of them. They ask if in wanted to tag along. I knew a few of them so I said sure. In the first half mile they stopped 4 times to drink (beer, shine and liquor). Well one of the razors punctured a tire with a rock and then continues to drive till the bead of the tire comes off the rim. They plug the tire with a fist full of plugs and try to air it up with a 12volt compressor.

I tell them if they will pour some beer around the bead and rim it will lube those and allow the tire to slide onto the rim easier. (Now I have worked with my dad in the tire shop for 25 plus years and we always used bead lube or in an emergency at hone murphys oil soap). The guy working on the tire yells to me "I guess you are a f'in tire expert". Then then tells everyone beer is not to be wasted and he can fix it with ether. He sprays a lot of ether in this tire. About half a can. I get off my atv and move way back and to the side. Some young kid (14-15 or so) notices what I am doing and moves to the side with me.

The tire expert lights the ether and we all watch the tire inflate and then blow the side wall out. It was just too funny for words. At least no one was injured. He was loaned a spare and at the next fork in the trail I split ways with that crowd. Don't know,if everyone made it that day or not but I was not going to be associated with then if things went bad.

I've done it a few times. I don't think the ether I have now has the umph it used to. Last couple 22.5 tires I tried with it wouldn't go and I ended up taking them to a tire shop. The used their bead cheater on them.

I bought myself one off the eBay for around $50. Works slick the few times I've used it.

we did it once on a jeep trip in the winter. one guy running too low pressure and wheel came off rim. Put a tie down around tire and shot either in and lit it off, first time we didn't put air pressure to it quick enough. second try we put air to it as soon as it popped and worked. I did a similar thing with a friend's trailer tire. I did get it away from anyting flamable when I did it. He was kind of impressed with my ingenuity(so was I but acted like I did it every other day)

Have fixed many mixer tires that way,22.5s 425s floater tires. never had an incident but would use a blaster
now. as was said most either isn't good enough to work, and I for one wouldn't dump half a can in to find out

Have done that many times on our dirt late model tires on 12" rims. The tires come folded together bead to bead and can be a little stiff when mounted. A little ether and pop, on they go, just be quick with the air hose.

Until they invented the modern bead seater like in the picture that was the only way to get some tires seated.

i do it on semi tires nearly every time, or pickup tires that have sat around stacked flat, its about the only way to seat them, other than a cheeta which workes most of the time too, the thing with either is you have to know how to do it, its not just spray a bunch in and lite it, unless you want to get burnt, i had a old man who repaired tires for decades teach me, and ive done it for 30 something years with never any problems

I've done it many times. Like anything else in life, as long as you use the ether in moderation, it's not going to do anything but make a whoomph sound, scaring anybody in the general vicinity, and seating the bead.
