(quoted from post at 05:33:53 06/18/17) How far is the barn from the field? If its not far I don't think I'd go to the work of stacking the hay that high on the wagon.

I know what you mean. I think that it is mainly the perspective of age, LOL. The number of wagons plays into it pretty strongly as well.

Looks like enough work for one load.

I've stacked higher when I was a lot younger and more ambitious, even on an open wagon like that. IIRC, used to go 8 rows stacked on the kicker wagons, 140+ bales. One more layer wouldn't clear some of the phone lines over the road - found that out the 'oops' way.

Got a neighbor who stopped by the farm saying his phone wasn't working. The bales stayed put. When the phoneCo put the wire back up, they made it a little tighter. Still, we stopped stacking that high unless there were just a few more to finish the field. Then the ride home got slower and the wagon rider got to make sure the wires went over the top without snagging.

Are those 16"x18" bales? About how much do they weigh? If I remember correctly, you now use a John Deere baler with the NH 68 as a backup. Good looking bales.

We have enough wagons now to bale everything and unload later. That wagon went under one of our shelters as is and is still setting loaded. 5 high is what we shoot for and if the pace is slower, I'll throw a few more on top. Less wagon changes gets us baled before the humidity sets in.

Was watching some videos last night with the wife and there were a few of those trucks and wagons over in India, I think, that were loaded about 3 times that high! The truck was carrying what looked like bamboo, and was stacked so high and heavy that the truck wheelied and fell over on its side. ...Don't think those folks will ever learn! :?

Yes, those are some very nice-looking bales. Well done.
