RK LED shop light

I couldn't resist any longer, I went ahead and bought the RK LED
shop light. It works great. I already have two LED in pole barn,
This is the third. I almost need to have sunglasses. You don't
want to look at them, they are bright.

While at RK I walked past their metal ammo cans. Never seen them
that cheap. I may have to go pick up a few to give to my kids for
Christmas gifts.

We bought a couple of LED regular sized light bulbs.
I put one in the guest room... Yep, REALLY bright.

I'm going to move that bulb to the basement and buy the "warm light" version for the guest room (vs. the "bright light" version).

Have one extra bulb and plan to put that in the front porch fixture.

Says it should last about 9 years... I'll post back with actual results. LOL

With the LED lights my only question is "do they really last"? I have a couple 4' singles and even those are bright.

I put LEDs in the two lights that light my garage door. Have had them in for over a year.l On every night, all night and they are working like a champ. Most lights in my house, that are on for any length of time, are now LEDs. I have heard about people buying them for when the others go out. Me, I like saving money NOW!

I have only seen a couple to have failed.

Heck, even on my car and pickup, I am replacing filament bulbs with LEDs. Not as much of a cost savings via better gas mileage but still a good test to see how they last.

George, I just bought some 4 Ft LED Shop Lights at Menards for around $29.99, but they're a bit more decorative and not so much industrial looking, they look so good I hung a couple inside the house lol and I'm in the process of converting the entire home to LED as I did years ago in the RV. The price keeps coming down on LED and I always hated those CFL Squigglys grrrrrrrrr

See you at Elnora in September perhaps

I am replacing the incandescent's in the areas that are on a lot with LED, and moving the incandescent's to the areas with minimal use, will replace them with LED when out of spares. I just replaced the outside HPS lights that were damaged in hail storm with LED and wow they put out a lot more useful light.

David,
I'm doing the same things, moving florescent from pole barn to a garage that gets little use.

I want the daylight version of all lights, to me it is easier on the eyes. I acidently got a hold of a couple of the warm light (yellow light) bulbs and they do not provide as much light. Just put 2 side by side and at night you can see the difference. I an now just vhanging over from the cfl in the shop after catching a cfl that was bright red and several others were bright red on one side. And the local electrical contractor that will be puttting mi wires up after the storm that took them down when it out the tree and wires on top of my truck has no idea why they were that bright red. To get enough light from hard to reach porciln socket outside I had a Y put in with 2 100 equivilent daylight led bulbs. One burnt out at less than 8 hours of use. That is where I found out the soft white do not put out as much ligh as is with those 2 bulbs within 6" of each other the soft white looks like only a 60 compaired to the daylight that looks like the 100 that they are both supposed to be. And as far as lasting I don't think they will last any longer than the incandesant bulbs. Just pay attention to the stop-tail lights of the vehicals ahead of you and no longer than they have been out for that you will see on a lot of the lights 1 or 2 of the individuall LEDS are out.

I have 60 watt equivalent led on front and back porches. We just leave them on all the time. It's been about 3 years now and still going.

John,
I went to Menards today, yes they are same price, but not the same Lumens. Menard's are 3640 and RK are 4500. Menard's are also covered with a translucent material, RK clear. Menards are 4000K, a little on the yellow side.

I went back to RK and bought another LED.

. I don't even know what LED stands for but they sure beat the old kerosene lamps we had before the high line came threw in 1946 . LOL

My dad is71 and I put one above his vise where he sharpens his chainsaws. He was amazed how well he could see the teeth on his saw. For Christmas this past year I put all leds from rural king in the low bay area of the shop, so bright I took a few of them down. Put the extras out in the barn and they did well in the cold. I just wish rural king was closer!

. No sir I am not kidding. I well remember polishing the lamp globes with newspaper to get them clean and then trim the wick just so in order to get the most light.. It was a big day for us when the high line came through. The old man went right away to the feed store to buy a milk cooler. Before that we used ice in the vat in the milk house.

Most days I drive between my two places, go through town. Rural King is on the East side of town, not that far out of my way.

Yesterday, I stopped off at 5 different places while traveling between places. Guess you can say I was multi tasking. Got to stop at RK for their FREE pop corn.

Been waiting on RK to have a 10% off everything in the store. Have an eye on a 22 rifle, metal ammo cans, 12g shells and clay pigeons.

I send them on e mail every so often telling them we need a store in Seymour. I even told them about the empty bender lumber store. When I worked in Columbus I went there twice a week. I got my rebates to go spend.
