Is a standard drawbar on my 3020 regular type steel or a hardened steel.. Making a drawbar for my dads tractor..
wondered if regular bar steel is strong as a factory steel..

Don't know about the steel but can sell you an A&I one for $150 plus shipping. The hole layout is given ion picture if your still making your own.

Not sure what material the originals are made from. But I made a straight draw bar for my 4020 out of a piece of 1018 cold rolled steel bar. Use it with my bat-wing mower which has a lot of tongue weight and have not had a problem.

I had one made out of 7/8" SA516-70 here at the shop for my Ford 3000. It did well until I hooked up a house trailer to it, bent it a little. Some heat and a big hammer straightened it up, still use it to pull fertilizer wagons, and the rv around. It works fine on the little trailers we have also.

It's hardened. Back when we traded are Oliver for a John Deere. The first problem we had was the Oliver drawbar was much heavier and had a larger hole in the Deere drawbar. Dad took the Deere drawbar to the welding shop wanting them to make the hole larger. They quickly said no sent dad back home. We had to find smaller pins.

$150 isn't a bad price for brand new with ten holes drilled through it and a forged offset. Have you checked the price at salvage yards?

My dad did welding and out M 's drawbar hole was elongated . He found a collar with hole that drawbar pin would fit. He would blow a hole in drawbar big enough for collar and welded collar into drawbar. We used the tractor for next 30 years with no problems.
