What I see in this world (just my thinking okay)

What I see in this world. You know it is funny back in 1978 0r 1979 computers where just taking off. Boring things like black, green screens and black and orange screens. Learning that very import DOS words to run the thing. Look at it now all in high windows and internet. Cars are computer minded, trucks and so many other things are to. Why I am saying this is because know my Retirement check I do not no longer get a stub mailed to me but it is emailed to my email account that it is in my bank. One hacker can get all this information One hacker can get you bank account. One hacker can have every thing you got in just one hour. It never use to be like this and that is very bad to say. We like the internet it comes to be the best way to get parts and see what every body is up to but some how on Hacker can really screw things up. Just because they are to lazy to go out and get a real job. I have been on this internet since 1994 I have seen a lot of changes and some are for the best. You ask do I need protection in this world yes you do why what if this Hacker got your information. Just my thinking okay have a nice day.

You and I think alike. Just wait til cars, semis, and buses are "driverless", then we will see what fun hackers can really have.

I may not be on the road as often in a few years when this stuff takes off. I wouldn't trust a car that I am not physically driving.

Remember when you got your weekly paycheck and went to the bank it was drawn from with your ID, or even without, you could cash your check without being given a hard time? This was a weekly affair and you never thought any different about it.
The world population is rife with thieves, and even if the majority were caught, convicted & executed, then displayed in public for all to see, it would not stop more from doing the same. Reason I say it like that is some people just don't get it no matter what happens. It's amazing that theft occurs at every level and in all walks of life on a daily basis on the entire planet.

That's progress for you. Personally I think every time they re-invent the computer operating system it gets worse. I used to get far more use out of a computer when it had a DOS system. I used to have some software you could write your own program in simple English to do most tasks you had to do. Now I can't even find software to do simple booking unless I change professions to match the software. Then the cost of being online. There is no telling how many viruses I've had. I would be willing to bet the people selling virus software are the ones putting the viruses out there.

I also think the person that came up with the idea to put computers in cars should be put against a wall and shot. Sure they are fine when brand new but try to keep an old car on the road is a nightmare. You can't even find a mechanic that can figure them out, including the dealer.

Would agree - there are some pros, but alot more cons.

The BIG think I notice in my world is that the older, chip/card based machine tools rarely have Operating System issues, while every darn window-based control in the shop has had issues, from the late 90's to a brand spanking new 2017 model.

And, whenever the cam system workstations update, nothing but problems.

Just my .02

Every time you perform any kind of non-cash transaction, you are giving the other party your personal information. If you write a check, you are giving the recipient your name, address, telephone number, bank account number, and bank routing number.
If you use a credit card, you are giving the vendor your account number, your name and address, the expiration date of your card, as well as any other information encoded in that card.
You are completely dependent upon the honesty of the recipient along with the protection of the law. The opportunities for a "hacker" to obtain this information are just about infinite.
Yet, while this information is the next thing to a public record, we do not often get "hacked" by the crooks. Apparently the protection of the law is a big deterrent. In any case, I personally think that the criminals are after bigger fish than you and I. After all, if they get my money, they wouldn't be getting much. Most of mine is tied up in tangible assets rather than cash.

The hacking problem is so much worse because someone in another country with a keyboard and any kind of Internet access can pick away at it. Several of those other countries either don't care, or somewhat encourage the hacking.

Went several thousand people are doing this hidden behind another country that we can't do anything about.......

Your and my info will never be safe.

We are reduced to the game of averages, on average only a few of us will be hit by hackers, and so we pretend it's not a big deal and move forward.

"After all, if they get my money, they wouldn't be getting much."

But what if they get your credit rating by stealing your identity?
What could they do with that?
If you have a great credit rating, you may be at a higher risk.
Warren Buffett and Bill Gates probably have crappy credit ratings.
That is, as far as the credit bureaus go, because they don't need to use it.
