Baled the last of it yesterday and cleaned up & stored the round baler today. Grandson wanted me to wash it but I just don't think that would be a good idea. What do you guys do to keep your balers shiny? Mine's looking pretty dusty tho I blew it down with air.

We like to pressure wash all our stored equipment when we're finished for the year. We leave it out till it's completely dry and give it a light coat of burnt oil with an air undercoating gun and store them inside. Doesn't make it look pretty but sure protects them from rust and makes it nice to work on before the next season.

I just blow air on my equipment to clean it when I put it away. I have dirt floors in sheds so it gets covered with dust anyway. I pressure wash it before I use it the next season.

I think that's what I'll do, I didn't want to wash it then put it away even tho it's supposed to be in the 90s here for the next 4 days. (kinda rare for Ohio this time of year)

High pressure washing is the worst thing that ever happens to round balers. Water is forced past the seals on the rolls and next year you have bearing failures soon after starting to bale!

That's what we do too. Keeps the chains etc. from rusting. Sure is nicer to work on clean machinery over the winter. Helps control the mouse population as well. Ben

Some guys hay fields here in Ohio look like they might get yet another cutting. Where I'm at my lawn never let up this year.
