Yes I know that's not the proper name.whats the usual thickness of steel when redecking "brush hog"decks? Another question:is there diesel still available that doesn't go "bad" so soon?seems like it used to last at least a couple years, just drain moisture from bottom of tank and fuel filters and go!

I re decked my bush hog brand with I/8 steel. That is same as bush hog built it with. At least I can stand on it without stepping through th rusty spots. Tommy

(quoted from post at 19:25:22 10/01/17) Would 1/4" be too thick? It's a 6 ft cutter
The neighbor we bought our water from when I was young had a homemade, VERY heavy duty brush mower. He used 1/4" on it. I don't remember what tractor he had (not even the color....stupid me!), but it was only a 6' mower. However, he made it for being able to cut down and mow over up to 6" trees!! I never saw it up close, but we could certainly hear it working in the distance now and then!!
