O.T. Any of you pilots that live in Canada?

NavCanada as a private company came into being a few decades ago, not exactly a new thing. Was pretty a seamless transition from being part of Transport Canada to the non profit that it is now. No difference in service that I noticed.
 
If anything it is a bit simpler to use/access. As Steve said, a smooth transition. As a private pilot, my useage of the system is quite limited however. Ben
 
Their money is made primarily from fee?s paid by users of their service ie; aircraft operators, and they sell their services both in manpower and technology to foreign countries as a secondary source of revenue.

Yep. Before the year 1996 it was called Air Navigation Services. Owned and operated by the Canadian Government. During that year it was distanced from the feds and called Nav Canada.
