OT: 2011 Chevy 1500 truck traction control service light

Sons truck just had this come up and it went into limp mode, luckily he was just a mile or so from home. What is it going to take to fix this and how expensive is it! Truck has about 150K miles. Thanks for any help in advance.

In order of likelihood by a GM SM... (NOT me!)

Electronic throttle body/TPS.
Steering position sensor.
Unitized front wheel bearing.

Traction control relies on a bunch of electronic sensors to work at all, let alone work properly.
Any of the sensors, or the brake light switch, can fail and disable the traction control system.
This is in addition to all of the potential mechanical failure points.
Limp mode might suggest a transmission problem.
It would "probably" be cheaper to have the computer scanned for codes before throwing parts at it.

Its normal strategy for the electronic engine controls to shut that system down when ever it sees a fraught in other systems and turn that light ON. It may not have a traction control problem you will have to hook'er up to a code reader to get the code ignore traction codes if any other codes appear.

I let the truck sit for awhile and drove it and it performed normally except for the check engine light is on, transmission shifted as it should. I'm going to take it to a shop tomorrow and have the codes checked out.

Using Bob's 1,2,3 traction control can not do its thang if it see's a issue with any of the three are more. The system turns traction control off when it does that the light pops on... Its part of the programs strategy..

I was going to make a post about the most probable causes but you got it, only it seems around here the speed sensor/unit bearings would be on top by a small margin. Of course there are about 100 other scenarios too.

I've had a couple of times that the antilock light came on two different vehicles.

I unplugged the connector on the unit and plugged it back in. It's been a while since it happened and I think I looked to see that the coupler was clean but that is all I did and the light went away.

Just a thought.
