Well I picked up the shop smith machine and so far really like it for the simple things we wanted it for. I made two observations 1. they must make there money selling parts and add on's 2. Used ones do not hold there value to good and can be bought quite cheap sometimes a few hundred dollars. I would definetly not pay $4-6000 for a new one. Locally the attitude is the same as on here people love them or hate them not much in between.

I bought one for $400 on Craigslist and sold off all of the parts I did not need on eBay for about $500 a few years ago. I use mine almost every day as a lathe, for disc sanding and for horizontal drilling. I build banjos, fiddles, guitars and such and find it very helpful, but I have regular tools for the other functions the Shopsmith can do, like the jointer, bandsaw, router, table saw and such. Good luck with yours, I'm glad you're finding it useful.

I build banjos, fiddles, guitars and such WELL I AM NOT THAT SKILLED that is an art all its own.

Craigs list you can find them for $2-500 But be careful and do your homework the extras can set you back. Best to find one with them.

Hi, my FIL had one. I liked it quite a lot. The only thing I didn't like was changing each set up for every function.
TPITA. If you ask me.

Ya better trade it for a good snow plow!!!! Hurry and get to Baker Valley and I'll make sure I send all this white stuff we got last nite over there.

Had a friends' son come over the mountains this morn from Boise, he said it is a real mess up there in the Blues. Looked like they hadn't even been out with the snow plows yet. He is going back to Boise before the next storm comes through, his dad said probably Tues or Wed.

18 degrees here right now, sure glad I don't have to go anywhere.

Have a safe trip home.

I have a little trouble posting pictures here but I'll put up a couple. If you'd like to see more you can head over to hoytbanjos.com, I have enough pictures there to gag a goat. Building
instruments is how I pay for tractor parts now that I have retired from the parts business.
