Hand cleaners

I have found a good hand cleaner, called BearPaw hand cleaner. It has grit, and does a really good job. bearpawhandcleaner.com is the website, and it is made in Knoxville,Pennsylvania. You are told to wet your hands before using. What have you had good success with?

Actually, WD-40 cuts grease pretty well and then I follow that up with soap and water. I have used hand cleaner cream in the past but it always seem to break down before I finish the can.

I use a locally made 'speciality' soap. Called 'Grease Monkey',by the 'Dirty Water Soap Company' of Delta Colorado.A lady down the road makes it.it uses coffee grounds for grit. The stuff works!

I don't want anything with grit. You have to use water to get that stuff off. The smooth stuff works fine for me and I can use it in the field or wherever I am .

Gojo scrubbing towels, they had them at the factory I welded for. Even use them on face no problem with them when old just make sure to close up when done.

Kind of expensive and needs water, but SnapOn's -Nitro Gold is good stuff. Also used something called Mean Green one time, had to use water with it. We also use Kimball Midwest's hand wipes in a cherry scent at work, good for on the road. Don't use them on your face though!!

While rebuilding my MF 14 this past summer my hands of course got pretty nasty from grease, brake cleaner, crud, and just grime from a 40 year old GT.. While cleaning up bolts and nuts, and small parts on my bench grinder, I found that a wire wheel will take the heaviest grime off zip zap fast. Leaves your skin baby pink clean. Not sure I would generally recommend it, but it's very fast, and requires no rinsing or wiping.

I prefer Fast Orange, but I have water readily available for rinsing.

just buy a bottle of dishwashing liquid from the dollar store mix half with same amount of water has been working for me for many yrs I dare you to try it cause you will be amazed and use it from then on

Plain ol Go-Jo works the best for me, no grit or trick anything. Do not wet your hands first. If I've been monkeying with gooey stuff, I'll use WD-40 first, does pretty good w/o drying you up. Then Go-Jo

I use Kresto. It has ground nut shells for grit, and some sort of oil in it that won't dry out your hands. It will take off grease and dirt very well.

My preference is the Deere premium green hand cleaner. Put on dry hands, wipe off, or rinse with water. Can also rub into hands before like glove kote.

Local fiat agri sells this stuff seems to work pretty good .john Deere has some thats good as well

Any of the creme type hand cleaner that is on sale works for me. If I get my hands dirty and don't have hand cleaner around, a tablespoon of detergent motor oil works good, as long as you have something to wipe off the excess oil.

Orange Goop from Harbor Freight works well, and is cheap!

If I don't have hand cleaner, powdered laundry detergent works too. Doesn't take much, just add a little water and work it in.

BearPaw, I'll have to remember it. I have tried every hand cleaner mentioned here on this site and so far the best I have found is that Snapon stuff that was mentioned . Bear paw sounds a lot like the SnapOn stuff. If I'm into a job in the shop where my hands have to be clean I might wash them six times a day or more and that gets hard on the skin. Some of the other cleaners do get the grease but I wouldn't have any skin left if I used them as often as I sometimes do. No amount of Udder Balm would counteract it.

The most recent experiment is a cleaner called Cherry Bomb. You use a little and then add some water. The jury is still out though. Smells good though.

ZEB hand cleaner I have switched from there green to Cherry Bomb... Takes on all comers and leaves no smell...

I would not expect a cheap arse to spend the money on it for us that play in grease/oil all day it can not be beat its the price you pay for the good chit...

"Hand shoes" = gloves.

I used to laugh at "Sonny", the Dad of a good friend of mine for wearing (as he called them) "hand shoes" pretty much all the time when I was younger and dumber and thought I was a lot tougher than I am now, but I've become a fan!

I have switched to hand wipes bought at menards, look like baby wipes, really tough wipes, takes off grease and paint

I use GOJO waterless hand soap. It is a good idea though, to follow it up with a wash in regular hand soap because the solvent in that type of cleaner is hard on the skin. Anyone who uses dish soap on greasy hands has way more time than grease on their hands.

I have been using K-Gard hand cleaner for years. It's a gel, you put it on your hands without wetting them and then rinse off. It is fantastic stuff. No grit, no grime, and I have a little bottle in the truck because you can use it with no water and just wipe off your hands on a rag.

No idea where to get it these days. The hardware store where I bought my current couple of gallons is out of business.

I've been using 'Go-Jo' for over 50 years. It's what we had at Western Auto and it does the job. I don't like the grit infused cleaners. Dad swore by Lava and before that Boraxo; Go-Jo was a huge step up for me.
