Got my Firestone?s taken off the rims today . I was hoping to put them on the rims that came off my 4020 originally but they are only 12 inches wide and the calcium has continued to eat on them even though rhey haven?t had fluid in them for over 20 years I even sanded washed and painted them the last time they were apart . So I guess I?m back to finding a couple 38 inch rings rings to go beteeen the power adjust rims that came off a Massey 1155

You need to use an acid, phosphoric acid like used to be used with the old steam Jennys or dilute muriatic acid (pool acid).

Be sure you save those eyes for the hooks. I bought eight of those things a year ago. They ain't cheap.

It is much better to use phosphoric because it converts the rust to inert iron phosphate. If there was any rust left on the inside of that rim it would have continued to grow. I have a lot of stuff with rust on it around here that has never had calcium chloride touch it, LOL.

Where I work, we use a product called Chlor-Rid. We sandblast or needle gun the scally areas, spray on the Chlor-Rid solution and let it dry, and sandblast again. Google it. It kills the active chloride ions that are on the steel. It also works well on trailers, etc., that are exposed to road salt. It?s not real expensive and easy to use. Ron

I had a guy cut up junk and haul it away a few years back. When I went to put on my duals in the spring, all the hardware was gone. Grrrrr!

I don"t understand buying those eyes for the hooks to go in. Spendy things. I had duals on a D17- just hooked the J-bolts over the end of the rail. Never a problem holding them on.
