predator generators

Does anyone have any experience with Predetor Generators from Harbor Freight? Particulrly 6500 or 8500 watt models. I've dodged the bullet as far as needing one for 15 years but would like to be able to put my greenhouse and other out buildings on one just in Case (sic).

Know a couple of people with the 8000 unit. Be religious about the oil and air filter. DON'T overload them. If you are unsure of the amount you need,,,buy a bigger unit. One of them runs straight synthetic, and the other runs a blend oil. One of the guys ran for 2 1/2 days straight. Stop for oil check and refill gas. See what others say on here but most have been favorable.

I have the 7000/8750 model. Works fine. After I got it home new - I found out it was charging the starter-battery @ 16 volts. I called and complained and HF wanted me to bring it back to the store and swap for another. I said "no" since it was a 300 mile round trip. So they got me a new voltage regulator and sent it to me. It took four months. The rest of the generator was fine.

My only slight complaint is when all done - it was not all that cheap. I paid around $500 on-sale. Then paid extra for a wheel-kit. Then paid extra for a battery. Then paid extra for a propane conversion kit. When all done I had around $700 into it. Two weeks after I bought it - Amazon had a 6500 watt Pulsar for sale that came with wheels, a battery, and it was set up already for gas and propane. $475 shipped to my door with no tax. It was a fantastic deal. Never saw that offer again.

I have seen those Pulsar un8ts being sold by one of the local chains in the NE area around 5he NYC area. You are right about the duel fuel and price. Just HF is a bigger outfit. Here is 5he 8k and the bigger one is badged as a Ford.
gen set 1

Here is the Ford badged. The pulsar is $800 and the Ford is mucho bigger and lsted at $1,2oo.oo. If not mistaken they will ship to you for free. Give them a call. I have purchased a couple of small items from them and no troubles. There is a store about 15 miles from me.
hope 5his is correct

Yeah I have the 6500. Buy it! Great machine, and the $350 or thereabouts I paid for it was a steal.....on sale, no tax, no shipping...I picked it up at the store. Had it probably 10 years now and never a problem. Runs my house (within reason) before i got a Generac whole house, and I can put it and my welder in my FEL bucket and go out and do nice field welding jobs that my previous 5000 (different mfgr.) wouldn't.

have 5 predators 2 8750s have one on my bowfishing boat that runs at about 3/4 of full load 3 to 4 nights a week for 3 to 6 hrs. a night its 5 years old and has never missed a beat. have 4 others that get run hard and put away wet not one problem at all

I have had the 6500 watt for about a year but don't have many hours on it. It will run my welder at 225 amps with no problems. The choke does not choke enough in cold weather. I have to shoot it with ether to start it but it starts OK with the choke and ether. One thing that I don't like is that it doesn't idle when not using power.

I don't have a problem per se, but mine idles rougher without a load. I have the same problem with gasoline spray washers. The engines are tuned to deliver under load making them richly tuned. This causes uneven running at idle. Have you tried premium gas. If not, try a tank and see how you like it.

Other thing is (at least on mine), is that I shut off the fuel and run the gas out after using and don't use very often, battery may be low in power from sitting.....all akin to slow to start.
