8N Ford Transmission Lever??????

New to the forum today! I have an 8N Ford, I think a '51 or '52 that has a lever on the opposite side where the Sherman transmission has it's lever. I have no idea what this is!!! Anyone ever seen one like this?[/img]

if you post your question on the 9n 2n 8n board below you will get your answer good luck🚜

Your observation that the end of the lever is labeled, "Hupp," tells me that your tractor has an overdrive made by the Hupp company. While they were not as popular as Sherman was, there are quite a number of them around back in the 50's.

Sounds like a Hupp auxiliary transmission, now to find out which type.
Check out John Smith's auxiliary transmission section [b:d0b3924b45]here[/b:d0b3924b45].
Toward the bottom you will find info on the Hupps.

That Hupp combo also came in two offerings. One had a top speed of 15 MPH and the other topped off at around 25 MPH.
I have one installed in the wife's Fergy that tops off around 15 mph. The early Hupps were also prone to hanging between gear
ranges and breaking internal gears. If it gets stuck, raise one wheel and take the strain off the gear boxes. It should come out.
N'Joy!!
