Is there a reason the exhaust manifold gasket and the carborator gasket are sold as a set? All I need is the manifold gasket? Could I possibly use high temp form a gasket and make my own? Would it hold up to the heat?

the reason it's sold in a set is j.d. assumes your changing manifolds and need both. i'm changing the manifold out on my mm m-5 and the gasket set is the same. NO form a gasket will not work for a manifold gasket, get the set.

I'm not complaining. They have it wrong on the Yesterdays tractor website. Its listed as exhaust and carborator gasket set when it should say exhaust and manifold gasket set. That is all. According to pictures its the exhaust and manifold gasket set which is what I purchased. I just hope that's what I get. Thanks guys

More likely to be a 1959 or 1960 Model 430. When the manifold is off, this would be the time to check how straight it is with a steel ruler . Wouldn’t hurt to have it ground smooth. Certainly new bolts and chase the threads in the head .
They sound really good with the oval muffler from the John deere dealership .
