Moving rear wheels on the axle-Intl. Model H

I need to reduce the width of the rear wheels on my International model H. Right now they are 84" wide and need to go inward to 80". Need the procedure and approx. how long a job. Please don't guess. Real experience needed.
Thanks,
Rich

They can be bears to move. You need to take the axle clamps a bit loose but not to loose then drive it a bit to free them up from the axle where they have rusted on. Then jack it up and push them in. Some times a com-a-long to the other wheel helps a good bit. BTDT on many tractors

I don't have an answer on "how long" as I've never done this. However, your answer will depend on many factors. Some of these include:
your experience
in the field (or away from home) or in the shop (at home)
severity of rust
how hard/fast you work
weather/bugs/ground moisture/people interruptions
are you working "safe" or working "fast"?
and of course, can't forget to factor in Mr. Murphy. ...Not certain, but think I'm related to him somewhere. Must be fairly close relations considering all the wonderfully bad luck he keeps giving me. *lol*

We had an old H we used to plow tobacco with, so ours was moved in and out every year, if the clamps are in good shape and not rusted up not that hard. Easier to pull out than move in but if your axle is clean and the clamps are not rusted up etc it will take you longer to jack up the axle and loosen the clamps than move it.

We cultivated corn/beans for 4 years with a Farmall 450 with #461 cultivator. Tractor had a Fast Hitch.
We set the rear wheels out about 4 inches on each side. With the FastHitch pinned to provide downforce it
only took about 10-15 minutes total to move Both wheels.

12 years ago I hauled Dad's '51 M home, had to reverse one rear wheel to narrow it up to fit on the
trailer. I tried the last wheel I suspected had been moved 20-25 years ago. Twisted my breaker bar half
inch drive square right off. Guy who's farm we were at thankfully had 3/4 inch socket set. I ended up
loosening the Other wheel, all 4 clamp bolts loosened right up.

A lot depends on if you can get them to free up. That is why I say to loosen the clamps and then drive it some so as to put them free. I have seen then take 30 minutes to hours depending on how badly they are rust on

How many inches in width can reversing the wheel save. I need about 4 inches less to fit on my trailer.
Thanks,
Rich
