Went to a sale Saturday and the only tractor this farmer had was a 656. Had a little over 8000 hours on it. Started up and run good. Fast hitch. Tin very good just needed some paint. Brought $2,700 dollars. Tires a little over half gone. Hard to keep my hand down, but the wife ask me why I was going to the sale if I did not need anything. Got the irons that you need to break the wedges loose to move wheels on the 86 series tractors. They was in with fast hitch arms to convert it to three point.

I was at a consignment sale yesterday. A lot of machines were "no sale" because they didn't make the reserve price. Several others sold below reserve when the seller accepted the lower price.

It may have been low, but only one person in the crowd was willing to pay that much. It was probably a bargain for someone that needed one.

No three point hitch really hurts prices now-a-days. Gas engine limits the price too. Maybe a narrow front end? In their day, were they designed and priced as an economy tractor compared to most tractors the same size? Those were great haying tractors, but are now small for most haying jobs besides raking and maybe pulling smaller wagons. Too large and maybe too obsolete for an estate tractor, too small for full time farmers, most hobby farmers already have what they need and may not have extra money to burn, so there may not be as many in the market anymore? Is the collector market very strong for 656's yet?
